JOSEPHINE VIRGONA WILL HER PROPERTY TO CHARITY

Before her recent death, Josephine Virgona bequeathed her property at 17 Bardwell Rd to five local charities, including Guide Dogs NSW, and the The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The Virgona family were well known in the local community as providores in the fruit and vegetable industry, and had held the Mosman home for over 50 years.

IN AN astonishing act of generosity, the late owner of a multi-million dollar Mosman house has pledged the entire proceeds of its upcoming auction to charity.

Hooker’s Bernard Ryan, Richard Harding, and Colin Craig are facilitating the sale of the federation property. “In over 20 years in the industry, I have never been involved in such a unique event,” Mr Ryan said. “The property itself is also incredibly rare, and is an original historic home.” Built in 1920, the home showcases an original federation design, and is set on 379sq m. The four-bedroom property showcases a classic red brick build, with a traditional front veranda, and large private backyard. The home has a north-easterly aspect, and is walking distance to surrounding Mosman attractions. The property is set on a large block of almost 400sq m.

Mr Ryan said the house offered unrivalled convenience and renovation potential.

“It is hard to find a property in an entirely original condition, and in such a central location,” he said.

“This is a rare opportunity, a perfect blank canvas awaiting a designer renovation.” CEO of Guide Dogs of NSW and ACT, Dr Graeme White, said the proceeds will help the charity incredibly. “The money raised will help over 100 people that are blind or vision impaired,” Dr White said. “Through the generosity of the community, donations such as these allow our charity, and others, to continue making a positive change in the lives of many.” The property is currently on the market with a price guide of $2 million to $2.2 million, and will go to auction on Wednesday, April 12, at 5:45pm.
