CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Bank marketing has been defined as the creation and delivery of services that will satisfy the needs of customers at a profit to the bank.
From the definition above, it is seen that the customer who is the ultimate target of bank marketing must be satisfied.
With the cut throat competition in the banking sub-sector, marketing becomes imperative equally as the provision of services itself.
There is need for aggressive and persuasive marketing of banking services to protect a banks existing customers base and to acquire more chunk of the market.
Nation-wide, banking institutions are recognized as a very vital institutions for economic development of a nation and in this state specifically, the banking sector is said to play a more important role in the national economy than it does in any other developing countries.
In Nigeria, the business of banking was stated in 1893 by the bank of British West African while demand for banks owned by Nigerian businessmen or by the Nigerian government dates bank to over five decades ago.
Marketing and banking, though distinct disciplines can be said to be inter-related since they belong to the family of Business administration. This inter-relationship, however, is more and broader as for as their study is concerned.
Traditionally, banking is dominated by operation orientation, and marking has played a limited role typically being equated with public relations or land advertising.
And infact, the application of marketing techniques to service in general, and to banking in particular is a relatively new science thought the world. The Nigerian banking environment is a typical example. Marketing of financial services in fraught with diverse impediments including, lack of will structural approach and under-developed nature of available services.
Apart from conventional lending tools such as loan and over draft, availability of other services such as insurance and insurance broking, pensions, equity finance, leasing and hire purchase, computer bureau services and international services is close to zero.
Even though some banks provide most of these services, the limited to a few outlets.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE STUDY:
Marketing of financial services in our banking industries today still lacks the technical approach to creating a marketing culture at the banks. The greatest challenge for Nigerian Bank marketers is practicing what they preach. If a bank says it has all the information on a certain services, the people on the line should be in a position to answer question when customers walk in. Services are still very poor, although the increase in the number of banks has let to an intense competition even then the competition has not gone beyond that of attracting deposits through an array of innovations rather than a complete improvement in their services and meeting up with promised incentives. In the face of deregulation, liberalization, technological advancement and enhanced competition from banks and non-banks, marketers in financial services are assuming a greater role because without solid marketing culture.
Today, banks that want to survive and prosper should have more bank marketers who are adopt and trained in banking. This is true because, marketing is not about the simplicity of putting product x into the market place and hoping that y customer buy it.
It is using the resources of its paymaster organization to ensure that the needs of its customer are met” (peter Ellwood, October 1990). According to Peter Ellwood’ “the role of marketing is to facilitate an organization’s ability to sell brands, images, concepts, products or services to its current and potential

ABSTRACT
The research work focuses on the role of management information system (MIS) as one of the determinant factor of organizational successes. The rapidly changing business environment has made the importance of management information system a basic necessity for the survival of organization in this century. Information provided for management are at the core of societal well being and are as such, subject to close scrutiny not only by the management but also by other stake holders whose interest they also beheld. Survival as the ultimate business goal has a positive correlation with management information system. Clues and directions to be employed towards the achievement of this objective are however given in the research work. The researcher used primary data generated from the administration of the questionnaire and chi-square was used to test the hypothesis. The empirical study revealed that management information system is an indispensable tool for any serious concern. The study recommends that information system should be strategically managed by expert in the field of computer application so as to bring about sound and profitable organization.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The basis for all management information system is a computer system. Computer have transformed the business world as we know it, whether it’s a small business that uses computers for keeping inventory or accounting records of it’s operations or large businesses that uses computers for about every operations, computers are here to stay. Computers can take a business one step further, especially in the case of small business owners since business represents more than half of the economy.
By way of definition, a computer system is an electronic device that accepts data, processes the data in accordance with user instruction ( program) and generates results. It consists of input, output, storage and processing units. It is a functional unit that can perform substantial computations, including numerous arithmetic and logical operations. Based on classification, a computer system can be classified based on size, purpose, technology.
Oriha (2007) describes computer technology as rapidly advancing and innovations in the business world are constantly emerging while related cost in operation drops. The fast changing business world and the need for managers to be innovative, creative and be efficient makes the computer a vital instrument to reckon with in this 21st century. Computers and other communication equipments have made it possible to combine jobs which were previously carried out separately. Before the invention of computer system and its application to business operations, data collected for business purpose were processed and manipulated manually. This on its own has a lot of drawbacks to the effective running of business activities. During this period, data generated were recorded on paper, stored in filling cabinets and processed manually using simple procedures and office equipments such as typewriter, calculators, duplicating machines and so on.
This challenge of slow pace in information processing and the desire to have an information base that can respond almost immediately to management information need has led to the development of management information system. This is a system or process that provides the information necessary to manage an organization effectively. The challenges to establishing and implementing an effective management information system are novel and difficult, but not unyielding. The application of organizational development techniques holds great potential to surmount these obstacles and may provide organizations with significant advantages from developments in computing technology in the twenty first century. Evidence suggests that leading edge organizations are turning towards an integrated approach to Information Research Management (IRM).
Moga (2007) sees information system as a mechanism to ensure that information is available to managers in the form they want it and when they need it. It is designed to support their work through providing relevant information for their decision making,.
The benefits that advances in computer and information system technology offer to organizations in the 21st century seem indisputable, but whether organizations will actually achieve them, however, seems very much in question. While the foundation for this philosophy (MIS) rests on a strategy for integrating useful changes in computing technology into organizations, management information system must also encompass managerial and policy components. This is why a tripartite approach to information system adoption and implementation focusing on the technical, managerial, and policy dimensions.
Management Information System and the information it generates are generally considered essential components of prudent and reasonable business decisions. The importance of maintaining a consistent approach to the development, use and review of management information system within the institution must be an on-going concern for any serious institution.

1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
Seeing all the adequate measures such as internal control auditing, separation of duties, monitoring of branch operations, application of diplomacy actions etc. in order to control fraud and forgery in the Nigerian banking industries, still there is fraud and forgery in the Nigeria banking industry.
More still, banks screen the best staff for employment monitor and check dormant accounts, apply fraud detecting machines periodic rotation of bank staff etc, all are also another fraud control measures, despite all these, there is still bank fraud.
The next question a reasonable one will ask is “why does bank fraud still occurs:
This led me to write on this topic to really know, what bank fraud is, types, its effects on the economy, suggested control measures, causes of fraud in order to take this problem in the society over out banking industry.

1.2 RATIONALE OF THE STUDY
However, in accounting today the issue of fraud and forgery has been so ran pact among Nigerian banking institutions. Actually fraud cannot be easily be eradicated but with some control measure amendment can be made to control it. So the researcher had seen this problem of fraud and forgery in the country and has decided to bring out same solution to stop this or reduce the rate of this problem.
Now the question is that does it mean that all this measures for fraud and forgery control has no impact in the banking industry? Why do we still experience fraud and forgery despite all this measures such as internal and external another, generalities for fraud less, adequate call over etc. still we experience fraud and forgery. It is of this reason that I researcher had forgery. It is of this reason that I researcher has decided to know what fraud and forgery is all about in the banking industry, the native and forms of bank fraud to know same of the facilities that facilitate fraud, to know the actual infact of fraud in the economy. Having seen also this reasons it is of this note that I the research will libe to bring out same solution to put an end or limit this ugury institution in the banking industry and this has lead me to write on this topic. Fraud and forgery in the banking industry”

1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This research on fraud and forgery in the Nigerian banking industry will be of importance to many individuals who are bank customers and also to banker.
Since the research ex-rayed various types of fraud and forgery the bank will use it as an avenue to know the types of fraud and forgery that happened to then if any can made adjustment to its re-occurrence.
Also, banks will use the possible measure to control fraud an forgery in order to avoid bank distress and failures.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Financial control and accountability as the name implies means the proper management and control of financial aspects, the efficiency effective and management of finance of the organisation. The finance control and management law 1968 is designed for control and management for the public financial and maters connected there with and it stipulates under section 33 that the accountant general shall under to the auditor general accounts showing the financial position of the state at the end of every financial year and these include:

So in every organisation or public sector, there is the need for control and accountability.

Almost all the workers in the civil services especially those involved in government financial operation and well acquainted with and an updated knowledge of the principles of financial controls. Financial control is linked with financial planning. This is not withstanding control parameter are outcomes of financial planning decisions.
However, systematic planning in itself requires a degree of control in terms of its process and procedures. In most cases, government constitutes largest single business entity and in many places, the core of the economy.
Its pattern of expenditure or manner of resources allocation determines the extent to which accountability for economy, efficiency and effectiveness can be achieved.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM / OBJECTIVE OF STUDY
The commercial banks provides their numerous customer
across the county with the full range of commercial money market banking products (service) but not related to currents savings and deposit accounts. Loans and overdrafts provision of international money market banking services, export credits and financial advisory services, farmer loan scheme, time deposit current account, statement savings scheme, house saving an loan scheme, first cash, UBA card, current account management services, money gram or international money transfer system, scholarship schemes.
All this products were aimed at generating profit to the banks concerned but due to change in market demand for these products and infavourable economic environment, there is a decline in sales of these product and subsequent decline in their profit performance (ANIBUEZE 1998) (BANKING PRATICE)
As a result the banks introduced new money market products such as Network, money gram, Western union money Transfer, save for school scheme, JAMB form sales, cash evacuation scheme, online real time scheme banking services, which were all aimed at improving the profit performance of these banks (NWANKWO 1990: Marketing Bank Products and Services). Therefore, the problem here is how profitable would these products be so as to make any impact on the profit performance to these banks.
The objective of embarking on this research finding is to determine whether the impact on the profit performance of these banks is as result of the new products introduced.
1.2 RATIONAL FOR STUDY
The banking sector of Nigeria economy is facing many changes brought about by the contain policy changes brought about by the constant policy changes by government, operation income depletion and most recently the SAP of 1986 which aims at deregulating the financial system (OKAFOR 1988) (BANKING SYSTEM IN NIG.)
These changes have given rise to a number of difficulties that the banks are graphing with, most especially the commercial bank. These difficulties include low profit performance, which have affected their operation activities adversely, leaving to the distress problem facing most of these banks today for which about 26 of them have unfortunately been liquidated as
